The Mission: Rescue Food
At SoulSum, we create probiotic drinks that nourish you by sourcing ingredients in a way that helps nourish the planet. Our mission is to rescue surplus pineapple's and utilize their natural yeast in our fermentation process to create the delicious Tepache (pineapple probiotic) you drink regularly. Respecting our land and farmers requires us to look up and down the food supply chain and how we are managing it throughout it's life cycle. SoulSum Tepache is our soulstainable soulution to transform food systems and reshape the way we think about ingredients. Every purchase helps further our cause.
How it Began
SoulSum started doing pop ups at farmers markets across Oahu in 2022. Chef Ray specialized in Mexican cuisine and, as a farmer, focused on sourcing as much local/organic foods as possible. Combining his love for Mexican culture and sustainability, Ray learned about Tepache, then practiced the ancient Mayan/Aztec way by adding value through pineapple rinds.
